Garden

We garden communally, meaning we all share the work of the full garden, caring for it as a unified space. Our core team keeps it going, so even beginners can join in as much or little as they prefer. Our focus is food for self-subsistence, so expect filling, prolific vegetables like potatoes, carrots and squash, as well as luscious dark greens and salad stuff. We are also intrigued by developing spaces for tranquil repose, and we are glad to make such use of this land.

FERTILE UNDERGROUND GARDEN SEASON IS OPEN!

No experience necessary. All are welcome. Just bring your good will and care for Earth.

Dexter Park (Armory Park) - Thursdays from 3-7pm: Come help build the FUNC/Dexter Park Free & Public Garden. Meet at Park Center, near the four triangular garden beds. We are going to grow food, plant fruit trees, build fences, make friends...

“The Mansion” - Saturdays from 1-5pm: Come by 153 Ontario Street on the Southside (just off Elmwood Ave near the Reservoir Ave split.) This communal garden is being developed to explore permaculture, aquaculture, composting, chicken keeping - you name it!

Coop

To provide reliable and ethical income, we organize as a worker-cooperative, in which each member is directly involved.

Mobile

Many areas of Providence do not have proper access to fresh produce on a regular basis. We plan to bring fresh vegetables on the road directly to places where they are needed.

Cafe

Our Cafe is open for Breakfast & Lunch serving fresh and healthy food.

Services

The Fertile Underground consists of a variety of skilled tradesfolk, from landscapers to carpenters, muralists to yoga experts, snow-plows to make-up artists.

Garden

In Our Communal Garden everyone who shares the work, shares the harvest. No individual squares, but rather a cohesive small farm. From "under-utilized" lots to urban homesteads.

Grocery

The Fertile Underground are adapting the CSA model to work in a new way, something we call Community Supported Grocery.
